Furthermore, some researchers have proposed alternatives that facilitate graphing practice in the use of formative graphing templates, which offer strategies to automate repetitive graphing steps (Cole & Witts, 2015). Therefore, any procedures that can eliminate this step should be shared with practicing behavior analysts.Īlthough it has been noted that task analyses are not necessarily the optimum training strategy for disseminating graphing skills (Tyner & Fineup, 2015), they can be useful first steps in developing a training package. While this can potentially save time, the limitation of creating phase labels with text boxes is that they are not fixed in position when additional data are inserted (Dubuque, 2015). Previous task analyses have recommended utilizing text boxes linked to cells in order to save the time of filling each phase label individually in all graphs (Deochand et al., 2015). Researchers recognize that behavior analysts constantly need to update and create new graphs to cater to their client case-loads, and therefore minimizing any steps in that process could offer valuable time-savings (Cole & Witts, 2015 Deochand et al., 2015 Dixon et al., 2009 Dubuque, 2015). The first section of this brief report offers a way to integrate phase change line data at the same time as writing the phase label and insert both simultaneously into the graph. The purpose of this report is to provide an updated way (and templates in the supplemental materials) to add phase change lines with their respective labels, which stay embedded to the graph when they are moved or updated.Īutomating Phase Change Lines and Their Labels Considering the insertion of phase change lines and their labels constitute a repetitious and laborious endeavor, any minimization in the steps to accomplish these graphical elements could offer substantial time-savings to the field.
